Kris Roberts, Managing Partner
Kris Roberts, Managing Partner, has over twenty year’s experience in the field of accounting, taxation, and entrepreneurship.
Kris earned her MBA from the University of Phoenix and is currently completing her doctoral degree focusing on taxation and entrepreneurial studies at UoP as well. Her doctoral research includes the study of tax compliance for small businesses located in the state of Connecticut.
She has been an Enrolled Agent (EA) since 2003. An Enrolled Agent (EA), is a federally licensed tax practitioner. EA’s are authorized by the U.S. Department of Treasury and follow Circular 230 regulations. EA’s are the only federally-licensed tax practitioners who specialize in taxation and have unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled Agents are required to demonstrate to the IRS their competence in all areas of taxation, representation and ethics before they are granted the right to represent taxpayers. Because of the expertise necessary to become an Enrolled Agent and the requirements to maintain the license, there are only about 53,000 practicing enrolled agents world-wide.
Kris is also the Assistance Program Chair of the Accounting Department at The Malcolm Baldrige School of Business at Post University. Kris has been at Post since 2010. There, she designs and develops the curriculum for various taxation courses, as well as teaches a variety of accounting and taxation classes, both online and in the lecture hall.
Kris’ love for teaching extends to her professional community as well. She served as the Chair of the Education Committee for the CT Chapter of the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) for several years, before taking the position of President of the Chapter. Kris was recently elected as a Director for NATP’s national Board of Directors. She is a guest lecturer and speaker for a variety of professional and community organizations, including various Chambers of Commerce, SCORE, the Entrepreneurial Center of Northwest CT, and other state chapters of NATP. She also develops free webcasts/webinars for other tax professionals to help explain new tax laws and their impact on the tax professional as well as the taxpayer.
Kris has authored a variety of tax related articles that have been published online and in the TaxPro Journal. Topics have included; Taxation of Crowdfunding; First Time Delinquent Taxpayers; Casualty Losses; Profitability and Sustainability; and Partnership Dissolution.
Besides her work, Kris is very active in her community. She current serves as President of Main Street Torrington, Inc., a non-profit that focuses on economic development activities in the City of Torrington. She has also served on the board of the NW CT Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Entrepreneurial Center of Northwest Connecticut located at Northwestern Connecticut Community College.
Kris is a native of NW CT and has been living in Litchfield for over 20 years. She is the proud mother of three grown sons, and is the grandmother to three beautiful granddaughters, Leah, Alie and Sophia Marie. When she is not working, she enjoys time with her family, classic rock, live music, going on cruises, spending time with her dogs (Thor and Loki) and her Main Coon cats (Quill and Nat)…and watching any Marvel movie!
Brett wald, partner
Brett Wald, Partner, has over five years of experience in the field of accounting and taxation. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Barney School of Business at the University of Hartford in Bloomfield, CT.
Brett specializes in individual income tax, computerized accounting systems, internal processes, sustainability and profitability analysis. He is licensed as an Enrolled Agent, (EA), which is a federally authorized tax advisor, empowered by the U.S. Department of Treasury to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. EAs are granted unlimited practice rights to represent taxpayers including individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts, and any entity with tax reporting requirements. Brett is a member of the National Association of Tax Practitioners, (NATP), which is the leading tax professional organization in the country. With over 24,000 members nation-wide, NATP focuses on education, ethics and excellence within the tax professional community.
Brett currently serves on the board of directors for the VNA of Northwest CT. He has also volunteered his time as an instructor for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy for the NW CT Chamber of Commerce.
A native of NW CT, Brett currently lives in Torrington with his wife and two young daughters. When not working, Brett enjoys time with his family, playing fantasy football and various computer games.
staci orlando, accounting manager
Anastasia (Staci) Orlando, Accounting Manager, has almost ten years of experience in the field of accounting, audit, and taxation. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT.
Staci specializes in multi-state business income tax returns, individual income tax returns, financial statement analysis and accounting system rebuilds and cleanup. She also has experience in planning and conducting financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations for privately held corporations and nonprofit organizations.
Staci is licensed as an Enrolled Agent, (EA), which is a federally authorized tax advisor, empowered by the U.S. Department of Treasury to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. EAs are granted unlimited practice rights to represent taxpayers including individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates, trusts, and any entity with tax reporting requirements. Staci is a member of the National Association of Tax Practitioners, (NATP), which is the leading tax professional organization in the country. With over 24,000 members nation-wide, NATP focuses on education, ethics and excellence within the tax professional community. She is currently sitting for the CPA exam and plans on getting a masters in forensic accounting.
Professionally, Staci currently serves on the NW CT Chamber of Commerce Young Professional Organization Professional Development committee and was previously on the board of the New and Young Professional Group at the Connecticut Society of CPAs. Besides her passion for accounting and taxes, Staci is active in her community. She currently volunteers at fundraisers that support the local firehouses in North Haven. She previously served as the Event Coordinator and a Team Leader for the North Haven/Hamden Relay for Life that benefits the American Cancer Society.
A native of New Jersey originally, Staci has been living in Connecticut for the past 12 years and just loves it. She currently lives in North Haven with her husband Justin and dog Opie. When not working, Staci enjoys ropes courses, zip lining, spending time with family and watching the Boston Bruins!
